This workshop will be held in springtime in one of the most beautiful places on earth, Sedona. From sunrise to sunset, participants will be learning the elements of lighting, techniques of composition and other tricks of the trade useful for creating beautiful environmental portraits. Classroom time during lunch will give students the opportunity to review their images and receive feedback from one of the best known and most highly skilled environmental portrait photographers in the industry, Canon Explorer of Light Bruce Dorn.
Under Bruce's expert supervision, participants will have the opportunity to photograph professional models in iconic Sedona locations such as Oak Creek Crossing and Bell Rock. Canon staff will also be on hand to assist and answer questions. The creative use of Canon specialty lenses and Speedlites will be demonstrated, and a wide variety of Canon EOS cameras, EF lenses and EX Speedlites will be available for students to test and evaluate at no charge. Diligent participants will leave this one day intensive workshop with the foundational skills necessary to create gorgeous portraits anywhere, anytime.
What you will learn:
• Composition techniques for environmental portraiture
• The essential techniques of the Canon Speedlite system
• Balancing natural light with Speedlites
• Image review to open your eyes to different possibilities & improve your photographic skills
Skill Level:
Professional portrait photographers and advanced amateurs with an understanding of your camera operations including manual mode using f/stops and shutter speeds is needed for this workshop. We may be doing some light hiking through the red rocks.

• Gear loans including Speedlites
• 1-2 prints of your work
