The HD video capability of today's Canon EOS cameras allows you to create visually stunning and engaging personal videos. Join a small group of your peers to learn key storytelling skills from Emmy award winning photojournalist Sharon Levy Freed in this hands-on video workshop. Sharon will guide workshop participants through each integral part of creating a story worth telling. She will also bring you beyond traditional home movies, beyond meandering, hard to follow videos, beyond any reluctance you may have toward using your EOS to capture moving pictures accompanied by compelling sound. She will open up the world of using the EOS digital SLR as a tool for storytelling.
Whether your interest is in documenting family events, the world around you, or making a fictional film, you'll learn core skills ranging from story development, character recognition, sequencing, camera operation and editing.
The workshop will also include insights on these key storytelling components:
* Composition
* Lens selection to create feeling in your piece
* Audio considerations
* Capturing reality in the most engaging way
* Camera stabilization
* Editing overview
Workshop fee for this day-long event includes material costs, specialized equipment, and beverages throughout the day. Participant should be very comfortable with their Canon EOS equipment, as the instructor will be teaching at an advanced amateur level. Please bring your favorite camera, tripod, plenty of memory cards, charged batteries and laptop for downloading footage. Most importantly, bring an open mind and energy to develop your own media production style.
This workshop is limited to 16 students.
The CAC is located just a few blocks from the historic French Quarter, providing the opportunity to use the New Orleans culture & architecture as a great video backdrop. Parking is conveniently located in a large garage across the street for the daily rate of $6.
Traveling from out of town? The Carnival season will be underway and a few parades will be happening around town. Come enjoy a day of hands on learning and then apply your knowledge by capturing the start of Mardi Gras 2012.
