Join Explorer of Light George Lepp and Canon technical representatives in one of the world’s premier botanic gardens to learn creative and quality-enhancing techniques for capturing macro images and improving your close-up/flower photography. Here is a chance to use a wide array of new Canon cameras and macro lenses on a variety of beautiful and inspiring subjects. Once you have the right tools and have mastered the techniques, creative photography will follow. The workshop will include one day of classroom instruction, field demonstrations, personal instruction and individual critiques.
Students will learn the principles of macro and close-up photography such as: attaining maximum sharpness, lighting, depth of field techniques and more. Participants will also have the experience to use the EF 180mm f/3.5L Macro USM lenses to capture the butterflies and other insects living in the gardens, as well as learn how to magnify flower details 5X by using the Canon MP-E 65mm f/2.8 1-5x Macro Photo lens. High magnification photography requires electronic flash and all the capabilities of Canon Speedlites will also be explored.
The Canon gear we will provide for students to learn and experiment with will only further enhance the experience. As part of the workshop registration, students are able to borrow Macro lenses, extension tubes, flashes and a selection of EOS DSLR bodies to capture the environment. The workshop will include classroom instruction, field demonstrations and group critiques.
The workshop is limited to 16 students so you will have plenty of attention and support from Mr. Lepp and one of our highly skilled Canon technical representatives. Throughout the course, students will learn professional insights and techniques from Mr. Lepp and have the opportunity to print 1-2 of their images on a PIXMA Pro printer as well as learn essential processing tips.
