Join Jennifer Wu, Canon Explorer of Light, in Hawaii for four days of photographing abundant waterfalls, lush botanical gardens, sea turtles, black sand beaches and the amazing night sky. Weather permitting, we will photograph the Milky Way. The Big Island of Hawaii is a photographer’s paradise. We will explore the diverse scenery from fern forests to beautiful palm tree lined beaches and lava fields.
Photograph the rising sun over the ocean surf or delicate tropical flowers. Jennifer will discus tips for photographing the ocean and long exposures of the waves. You are sure to come away with many new photography skills and incredible images. The workshop is balanced with lectures and critiques during the day and photography sessions in the morning and evening. There will be little down time but it will be worth the effort!
The Big Island of Hawaii is one of Jennifer’s favorite places to photograph and she will take you to breathtaking locations she enjoys the most. Weather permitting we will visit Mauna Kea, at 9,200 feet at the visitor’s center and the summit is at 13,796 feet. See Jennifer’s images from Hawaii, which are mostly from the Big Island, and her blog post from last year’s workshop.
The workshop is limited to 16 students so you will have plenty of attention and support from Jennifer Wu and one of our highly skilled Canon Technical Specialists. Throughout the course students will learn professional insights and techniques, and have the opportunity to print 1-2 of your images on a PIXMA Pro printer as well as learn essential processing tips. We will carpool as a group to shooting locations.

The workshop is for advanced beginner to intermediate and advanced photographers will learn something new and enjoy photographing Hawaii. Attendees should have a basic working knowledge of their camera as well as how to use manual mode, using f/stop and shutter speeds and downloading images to your computer. Basic post processing skill are recommended. Jennifer uses Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, however you can use any processing software or Canon's Digital Photo Professional (DPP).
