XF Utility software provides a simplified first step in the process of managing and playing back your clips, without the use of full-blown NLE software. XF Utility is not intended to replace NLE software and does not include any video or audio editing features -- it offers various options for managing and playing back clips recorded with Canon HD camcorders compatible with MXF files, including the EOS C300 and XF-series cameras.
Some key features of XF Utility are:
- To back-up CF card contents (entire card).
- To transfer selected clips from the CF card to a computer.
- The playback of clips in Full HD resolution.
- Editing of selected metadata fields.
- Creating and editing User Memo profiles.
- The copying of clips back to the CF card.
- XF Utility also comes bundled with Canon's XF Plugin for Avid Media Composer, and the XF Plugin for Final Cut Pro
To find the software:
Follow this link to the to the Drivers & Software area for the EOS C300 (the same software download is also available on the Drivers & Software areas for theXF305, XF300, XF105, and XF100)
Choose your Operating System from the dropdown menu. In the Software listing below, you should see either:
Canon XF Utilities v. 3.0 for Mac OS X
File Name: XF_Utilities_mac_v3_0.dmg.gz
or:
XF Utilities v.3.0 for Windows
File Name: XF_Utilities_win_v3_0.zip
1. Download "XF_Utilities_mac_v3_0.dmg.gz" from the download page.
2. Decompress "XF_Utilities_mac_v3_0.dmg.gz" on the Mac to create the "CanonXF30M" file.
3. Double-click "CanonXF30M", and double-click the "MasterInstaller" file in the auto-mounted disk image "CanonXF30M" .
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Directions for download and installation (Windows):
1. Download "XF_Utilities_win_v3_0.zip" from the download page.
2. Decompress "XF_Utilities_win_v3_0.zip" on the PC to create the "CanonXF30W" folder.
3. Double-click "setup.exe".
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
