Originally a seasoned graphic designer working in print and web; Jeffrey Lau sought to simplify his focus both personally and professionally in order to channel a stronger, more lasting message in his work. It was then that he began to teach himself the medium of photography.
Jeffrey began working as a full-time professional photographer in early 2006. His commissioned work covers a broad range of fields including human-interest features, wedding photojournalism, environmental portraits, and commercial advertising. He has shot for brands such as Motorola, Target and CVS. His work has been published in CNN International, GQ Magazine (Japan), MSNBC, Decision Magazine, SF Weekly, People, Architectural Record, The Caravan, and the South China Morning Post, among others. Jeffrey was also a regular photojournalism and still-documentary guest lecturer for CUNY Queens College.
Jeffrey has received awards from NSAFM for the Motorola (RED) project (2006), WPJA Gold Medallion (2007), WPJA Blue Medallion (2008), named 2007 Top 50 WPJA Photographers and featured in the October 2007 issue of WEDPIX. His work "China in Brief" was exhibited in New York City (2010).
He currently travels internationally to work on both commercial and still-documentary projects.
