EF 400mm f/4 DO IS USM
Diffractive Optics technology gives Canon users a lens with a fast (for this class) f/4 maximum aperture, but in a package that's a fraction of the weight of conventional super-teles. This lens is another excellent choice for hand-held tele shooting (anything from surveillance to sports), and remains practical even in shade, overcast conditions, or at dawn or dusk. It's been popular with nature and wildlife users for some time; business or institutional users who need long telephoto power and professional build quality may also want to add this lens to their short list.
- Diffractive Optics (DO) technology means a shorter and significantly lighter lens, and also a near-total elimination of chromatic aberrations ("color fringing")
- Great choice for moving subjects, whether for hand-held or monopod-mounted use
- Canon's Image Stabilization minimizes camera movement and shake at shutter speeds two stops slower than would otherwise be possible
- Compatible with all versions of Canon 1.4x and 2x tele extenders; AF with all EOS bodies with 1.4x extenders; with 2x, AF at Center AF point with 45-point AF systems, and (after firmware upgrade) with 61-point AF cameras
