EOS C300 Mark II
The Canon EOS C300 Mark II is an evolutionary, second-generation CINEMA EOS System model that’s been reworked, redesigned, and reengineered with the valued input of thousands of users worldwide. Starting with a brand new Super 35mm 8.85 MP Sensor, the EOS C300 Mark II offers a dynamic range of 15 stops and an amazing amount of shadow protection thanks to a new Log gamma that’s been created – Canon Log 2.
The EOS C300 Mark II has new, dual DIGIC DV 5 Image Processors, offering performance and image improvements, and a brand new Canon-designed CODEC, XF-AVC Intra, that enables internal recording of 4K 4:2:2 10-bit, 2K and HD YCC 4:2:2 10-bit, and 2K and HD RGB 4:4:4, in 10 or 12-bit to dual CFast 2.0 card slots. XF-AVC Intra uses the MXF wrapper and offers a variety of data rates for 4K and 2K recording, including an incredible 410 Mbps for 4K at 30P. In addition to those extremely high quality recording modes, the EOS C300 Mark II includes XF-AVC Long GOP, for 2K and HD, which is YCC 4:2:2 10-bit at data rates up to 50Mbps and frame rates to 60P, and XF-AVC Proxy, which is 4:2:0 8-bit that records up to 60P. XF-AVC Proxy records to the camera’s SD card slot. Simultaneously with internal recording, uncompressed 4KRAW and 2K data can be output to an external recorder.
Dual Pixel CMOS Autofocus is already installed in the EOS C300 Mark II, with an improved focus area that enables autofocus within 80% of the image display. The AF frame moves around the screen in four directions, can be made smaller, allows the Continuous AF speed to be controlled, and the sensitivity to how fast it acquires or ignores a crossing subject can be adjusted. There’s an added feature called AF-Boosted Manual Focus that is an optional hybrid between Dual Pixel CMOS Autofocus and manual focus.
There’s a new focus assist feature called a Focus Guide that graphically displays pre-focus, in-focus, and post-focus views, and even works for manual focus cinema-style lenses. The EOS C300 Mark II also offers an additional mode of autofocus, Face AF, and Face AF now works with any lens that supports Dual Pixel CMOS AF – not just stepping motor -- STM lenses.
The EOS C300 Mark II ISO settings now start at ISO 100, offering incredible shadow protection, and extend all the way up to ISO 102400 with excellent over/under latitude throughout the entire range. To assist in controlling exposure, the built-in NDs now extend from 0, 2, 4, and 6 stops to 8 and 10 stops.
Custom Picture settings offer a choice of seven presets or you can choose Picture Setting options that offer a tremendous amount of additional tweaking. Wide DR (Flat) Gamma has been added, which is a new gamma curve, and there’s a new setting of Color Matrixes that make it easy to match images from the EOS C300 Mark II with other Cinema EOS models or even other camera manufacturers.
